Bathroom Remodeling in Bozeman

3D design previews, transparent estimates, and craftsmanship that lasts.

Your Bathroom Should Work for You, Not Against You

Every morning you step into a bathroom that doesn't work. The grout is stained. The tub takes up half the room and you never use it. The vanity has one sink and no storage. The exhaust fan sounds like a helicopter and doesn't actually move air.

You've been thinking about fixing it for a while. Maybe you've saved some Pinterest images. Maybe you just want the 1990s tile gone. Either way, you know the space could be better — you're just not sure where to start or what it costs.

That's where I come in.

What a Bathroom Remodel Actually Involves

Most homeowners don't know what's behind their bathroom walls, and that's fine — that's my job. Here's what a typical full remodel looks like:

Demo. Everything comes out — tile, vanity, toilet, tub or shower, drywall down to studs. This is where I check for water damage, mold, and structural issues that need fixing before anything new goes in.

Plumbing rough-in. Moving or replacing supply lines, drain lines, and valve positions. If you're converting a tub to a walk-in shower, this is where the drain gets relocated.

Electrical. Updating wiring to code, adding GFCI outlets, recessed lighting, exhaust fan installation or upgrade. Bozeman code requires specific circuit requirements for bathrooms.

Waterproofing. This is the step most DIYers and cut-rate contractors skip, and it's the reason bathrooms fail. Kerdi membrane or equivalent on every wet surface. Properly sloped shower pan. Sealed corners and penetrations.

Backer board and tile. Cement board substrate, then tile installation — floors, shower walls, niches, accents. This is where the room gets its personality.

Fixtures and vanity. Toilet, faucets, showerhead, vanity, mirrors, towel bars, accessories. The space starts to look real.

Paint and finish carpentry. Trim, baseboards, door casing, final paint. The details that make it feel finished, not renovated.

A full gut remodel typically takes 4-6 weeks. A refresh — keeping the layout, updating surfaces and fixtures — takes 2-3 weeks. Timeline depends on material lead times, scope, and whether we find surprises behind the walls.

How It Works with Heartwood Craft

Here's exactly what happens when you call:

  1. You reach out. Call, text, or fill out the form. I call back within an hour during business hours.

  2. We talk. A 10-15 minute phone conversation about your project — what you want to change, your timeline, and whether you have a budget range in mind. I'm figuring out if we're a good fit before either of us invests more time.

  3. Free site visit. I come to your home for a 45-minute visit. I measure everything, check conditions behind access panels where I can, take photos, and capture the full scope. No sales pitch — just an honest assessment of what needs to happen.

  4. Detailed estimate. Within 48 hours, you get an itemized estimate showing every line item — labor by trade, materials by item, allowances for selections you haven't made yet. You see where every dollar goes.

  5. 3D rendering. I build a photorealistic rendering of your bathroom so you see tile patterns, fixture placement, and vanity layout before construction starts. We adjust until you're happy with the design.

  6. Construction with daily updates. During the build, I text you a photo and progress update every day. You always know what happened and what's next. If anything changes scope, I price it as a formal change order before proceeding — no surprise costs.

  7. Final walkthrough. When it's done, we walk through everything together. Any punch list items get resolved within 48 hours.

What It Costs

I believe in being upfront about pricing. Here are real ranges based on actual Heartwood Craft projects in Bozeman:

  • Refresh (new tile, fixtures, finishes — same layout): $10,000 - $18,000
  • Tub-to-shower conversion: $12,000 - $20,000
  • Full gut remodel (down to studs, new everything): $18,000 - $35,000
  • High-end or large master bath: $35,000 - $50,000+

What determines where you land: bathroom size, tile and fixture selections, plumbing changes, and what we find behind the walls.

How Allowances Work

For selections you haven't made yet — tile, fixtures, hardware — I include an allowance in the estimate. Say tile is budgeted at $1,500. That's your number to spend. If you find something you love for $1,200, you get a $300 credit. If you want the $1,800 option, we adjust the estimate by $300. Simple. Transparent. No games.

See Your Bathroom Before We Build It

This is what I do that no other contractor in Bozeman offers: actual 3D renderings of your bathroom before demo day.

Not a sketch. Not a Pinterest board with "something like this." A photorealistic rendering that shows your specific bathroom with your selected tile, your vanity, your fixtures, in your layout.

You can see how the penny round floor tile works with the subway shower walls. You can see whether the double vanity makes the room feel cramped. You can decide between the frameless glass door and the barn door slider before I order anything.

After the build, we have the three-image story: before, rendering, completed. That's proof I deliver what I promise.
